depends on year, Bryan is incorrect. Between 1996/7 and 2001 the 745 was a 4.4l V8 (same as found in the later X5). In that same year range from 1998-2001 they offered a 750il which was a 5.3l V12.

From the inside, you'd likely never notice a difference (with the exception of a few gadgets.). The 750 was a simple face-lift of the E65/E66 745; the
last two numbers of a BMW model USUALLY represent engine size (there are exceptions.) The 745 has a 4.5 L (really a 4.4) V8, the 750 has a 5.0 L,
and the 760 has a 6.0 L V12. Aesthetically, the front grille, headlamps, bumper, hood, and rear boot lid and tail lamps are different. For a price, the
745 can be updated by BMW to look like a 750.
