Are you referring to the Idle Air Controller?  This sensor is typically located in the throttle body.  A shop manual would greatly aid finding this part.

Yes the actual pulse idle control valve is under the throttle plates.  BUT also the idle control unit is located in the glove box area.  Just remove the black upper liner (if its still there) by un-clipping it from the glove box at the rear.  When replacing either one of these units its highly advisable to replace both at the same time. Seems to produce a long time repair.  Don;t ask me why its just how it works...

SOMEtimes you can clean the idle pulse valve with carb cleaner and get it working again.
