I've never seen a 1991 BMW524td, thought they were only from 84 to 86. Nevertheless, I'd recommend Amsoil 10-40 Hi Performance oil.  I use it in my 1988 Vixen RV that has an 86 BMW 524TD engine because when you turn the engine off, the turbo is still spinning very fast. After turning the engine off, the oil pressure drops to zero immediately, yet the turbo is spinning in the residual oil that remains in the turbo, getting very hot, very quickly due to no circulation of oil. Most oils would burn under that condition. Amsoil holds up better than other oils for this condition. No, I don't sell Amsoil, I just use it and have for many years.
