check gauges light comes on and alternator stops working

replaced alternator and cleaned the connections.  It works for about 1 or 2 miles then the check gauges light comes on and the alternator stops working

Its a 2000 dodge ram 2500 I put a new I put a new alternator on it it didn't fix it still doing the same thing so could it be the PCM card how do I check the PCM card on my Dodge
