the startermotor cooks, then quits?...because the solenoid will not operate when hot?

I'd take a look at the 1/0 Ground cable to the motor block (near the alternator)~

Judge is right about the starter motor heat trouble, I'd replace the starter motor and add on a starter heat shield that is an aftermarket part. Then check all of the starter main power cables.
