My 2005 Dakota is going through front brake pads every 5-6 months  is there anything i can do to midigate this problem?

From the picture I can see you do some towing.  Try using the brakes less by anticipating a stop, and coasting more.  
Front brakes by design do most of the braking.

It is recommended to use genuine replacement parts.  Check your calipers for play, have your caliper seals checked, and
all moving parts correctly lubricated (KEEP GREASE AND OIL AWAY FROM PAD AND DISC SURFACE).

Bleed your brakes with fresh brake fluid.

Also check your brake caliper piston for lock-up, this might be causing the pads to not retract fully, thus causing
premature wear on your discs and pads.

Check the spot where the pads ride on the mount. Chances are there is a slight depresion worn into them, causing the pads to stay in contact with the rotors. A lot of black dust on the rims is a sign on dragging brakes. The wear spots must be filled in, and re-ground smooth....
