On my 1993 500 SEL, My water temp gauge stop working. It was working a few weeks ago, and now it stopped showing a temp. What can I check, any relays....fuses??? Thank you

1993 Mercedes Benz 500 SEL
Water Temp Gauge stop working 2 weeks ago. I have not done any work thus far, it just
stopped working. Is there any relays, or fuses I could start with? Please any help would
be greatly appreciated. Thank you

start with replacing the sender- your car is getting old and it would seem logical that the sensor would go out first- but get it fixed, because you don't want your engine to overheat and you don't know about it-

Where would I find the sensor? Will I find it under hood, drivers side in black box? What sensor is it? Thank you very much for your swift response.

sending unit is usually on the side of the radiator. looks like a valve with electice wires connected to the end of it.
