I have a 2005 Chevy Malibu maxx LS and the service soon light came on what do think my problem is

Is that the service engine soon or service vehicle soon light? Red or yellow? If it's the service vehicle soon light, check the headlight bulbs and gas tank cap. If it's the service engine soon light, get the codes read at the parts store.

The best thing to do is to go to autozone and have them get check engine code for free and they will also give you a paper with the possible problem and then you will know what to replace
