What causes the gas and temperature gages to malfunction

My gas gage is on E (even though gas in it) and my temperature gage is on the line before the red

Check the connections to see if they are clean. Second they maybe on the same fuse.

The fuel sending unit is what controls the fuel guage and the coolant temp sending unit is what controls the temp guage.
