Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Recently my ABS light and the flashing transmission arrow started blinking on my 2000 S70 Volvo. Also, the speedometer would stop working at times and the transmission started shifting poorly. After doing some online research, I assumed that the problem was with my ABS module so I sent it off to be repaired however, after I installed the repaired module, the ABS light went off but the flashing transmission arrow and the check engine light remained on. I've since traveled over 1,000 miles after reinstalling the module but the lights are still on. Also, before and after installing the repaired ABS module, I got these error codes: P1618, P0705, P0717, P0722. With that being the case, I have reinstalled the ABS module three times to make sure the unit was seated right and still the lights won't go off and the transmission is not shifting right. Do you think that the ABS module was repaired correctly or do I have a PNP switch problem?  The company that repaired my ABS module claims that the code P0705 has nothing to do with a bad ABS module.

To those who may be having the same problem, I found the solution. I mechanic friend of mine told me that I needed to clear the code's out of the car's computer with a code scanner. Since he didn't have a Volvo code scanner, I bought one from AutoZone. It costed about $50.00 and is called the "Actron PocketScan". It cleared all of the codes and now I have not warning lights on once I start the car. Even the dreaded flashing arrow has disappeared. Yeah!!!

I know this is an old post and I am not a mechanic. However, I did purchase the same Actron Pocket Scanner Plus" because I had the engine light constantly coming on. I'd drive it to my mechanic and it showed a benign code. He'd reset it. I then bought the Actron and cleared the code once, and haven't had an engine light come on in over a year. 2000 S70 with 158,0000 going strong!
