thanks, I found this online: "The 2005 Grand Cherokee is not a Jeep from thetradition of American Motors, but rather a Jeep from the Mercedes-Benztradition, with a little Dodge Magnum attitude thrown in." What do you think they mean by "Mercedes-Benztradition"? Thanks again

I would think they mean a Jeep with a luxurious interior and plush ride, more like a Mercedes than a sturdy, strong American Motors kind of vehicle.

NOPE NOT A BENZ MOTOR... but the Jeep was bought by Chrysler/Dodge and those companies became part of Dalmier-Benz which makes Mercedes. If you lift the hood on certain Dodge cars like maybe the CROSSFIRE sports car the name plate under the hood will say Dailmer-Benz/Chrysler

Yes, the 2.7l diesel is a Mercedes engine, the exact type found in the Mercedes ML 370.

I own a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK with the Mercedes-Benz 3.0L OM642 engine and 5G-Tronic transmission. It was only in 2007 and 2008 that Mercedes gave those model years that engine and transmission.

Jeep wj 2m7 cmd engine is a mercedes diesel engine also all wjs were designed by Amber Benz to compete with the ml350 version of benz

(As for the recent sale of the majority holdings of Chrysler by Mercedes which owns Jeep, Stuart Schorr, senior manager of communications, was asked if the Mercedes diesel would continue to be available in the Grand Cherokee. “We will continue to partner with Mercedes on certain technologies,” said Schorr. I hope that means the engine.) The Cherokee diesel does move off the line quickly. Jeep says its 0-to-100 km/h performance is nine seconds flat. Another benefit of torque and 4WD is that it’s a decent tow vehicle, and to that end, Jeep rates the diesel Grand Cherokee to tow up to 3,266 kg.
