2000 ciera wont start it turns over but wont start

2000 ciera turns over but will not start.

Could be bad fuel pump.Turn igntion to on postion and listen for a humming sound ,dont crank car just turn to on postion and listen,,if you dont hereanything it is your fuel pimp

I am having a similar problem with my '87 (2.5L), except the fuel pump kicks on but is not pumping fuel, Had this car for about a year, and I have driven it maybe 3 or 4 times. Any ideas?
