the mini has a trip reset button located (without navigation) in the central speedo. press and hold this while turning the car on (not all the way but to where all the computers turn on (the check engine light should come on). as you do this you should see the area that normally shows the mileage should show test 1 press the trip reset button one more time to show test 2.0 and leave it alone for a while and enjoy the show. the other tests are pretty lame to access all you have to unlock them which is test 19 or something and the only one you can actually use is the fuel  gauge test which shows you how many liters are in your right and left gas tank but i forgot which exact test that is. the others are voltages and signals that you can't really figure out.
