which generation of M3??? if I were you, get the evo if you are comparing it to the newest m3. The newest M3 suffers from understeer and isn't as responsive... the evo is a more balanced vehicle. With some skilled driving in a track like the Suzuka Circuit (full) i've personally seen an evo beat an m3

The M3 is by far the better vehicle. Although the M3 isn't that much faster around a track, it still has RWD which means it's more fun to drive than the AWD Evo. It also has a much nicer interior compared to the EVO's cheap interior filled with plastic. I say, if you have the money to buy an M3, don't look down.

what do you want, by that do you want a refined vehicle with an engine that revs to 8600 rpm and is capable on a track or an evo...its like this, the evo might dominate the m3 on a track (maybe) but whats a chick gonna want to be picked up in...a BMW M3 or a car made outa legos.....just think about it.

thanks for the replies guys. im lookin for an e46 (2001) m3 or a 2005 evo 8. what attracts me to the m3 is well the power it has
and obviously the much nicer interior. i also am a big fan of drifting and with the evo 8 and its amazing awd system this cannot
be done. the reason why i want an evo however is because i do live in the northeast and it does get pretty slippery on the roads
during the winter. i also am a fan of rally and love all of the technology packed into the small evo. if you guys have anything else
please tell! and dont hesitate to ask questions either lol

I owned bothe cars. The e46 M3 is the better car! more fun andlooks better feels better brives better. The Evo is just a rice bowl plastic all over the place. The best thing is the M3 does not have a turbo lag. there is power over the whole rpm range.

Just be careful about the M3 you choose because the reliability wasn't that great for the 2001 model.

if you see slippery roads get the evo.  its a no brainer.  i live in wisconsin so i understand the bad road conditions problem you face.  i always want to get a sports car rwd thats awesome but i have decided to get a capable winter car and a motorcycle for summer fun.  get the evo.  you will be laughing all the way to work as you drive by the rwd cars stuck on the road.  that is unless you can afford the m3 and a winter beater that gets around alright.

I've beat several EVOs on the street with just an air intake when my baby was new. Now I have several mods that piss off even the cockiest EVO's. Its a much better built car, longer oil life, better overall feel to it. I always want to drive my M3. I also own a GTR but driving it daily makes it hard because of the bulkiness of it so I always choose my M3

longer oil life?  lmao.  are you serious?  if you put synthetic oil in the evo the oil life is the same.  the car doesnt determine the oil life.  the oil does.
