what is the biggest tire you can put on the outback without modifications?

I am looking to get an Outback, 2008 or later (currently looking at a 2010).  I like everything except the rinky dink tires that come with it.  I'm not looking to put it on steriods, nor making any modifications.  What is the biggest size I can go without screwing up the alignent, AWD, or car in general?

What is on it now exactly? And if you find a wheel/tire you like but does not fit please for the sake of your car do not use adaptors for a different lug pattern. Adaptors throw off the place where the load should be carried, moving the wheel, even a little, out, away and will dstroy wheel bearings.

Stick to the stock size as there is not a lot of wheel well clearance, especially if you anticipate running tire cables. If not you could try 10mm wider.
