Why do the parking lights stay on after changing the battery?

I followed the instructions on first terminal off & back on, but the parking lights will not go off.

Only thing I can think of is disconnect the battery for a minute or 2 and see what happens. That's a real mystery why they would not stay on before a battery change, then suddenly stay on after..it's kind of a coincidence that the switch would go bad right at that same time
