i have a 99 ford taurus (3.0L V-6 wagon (automatic)) it starts ok, but when i put it in "Drive" it behaves as in neutral, same with OverDrive and "1", But it will go in reverse, what is the problem?

i would like to know what is the problem, but my mechanic tell's me some bullshit, so i am asking you guys, thanks.

My best guess is that your transmission is just shot, which is common in taurus and sable. I work at a salvage yard and that is almost always the case.

The adjustment nut on the trans case probably came loose and the rod slipped so it displays the wrong gear inside the car, unless there is no adjustment.
Then it is done for.
