why does my truck over heat when i put a thermostat in it

i can run it without the thermastat but it overcools yet if i put a thermastat in it overheats masivly i had a headgasket leak changed them but with it running so cold it runs like crap cause its fuel injection and the top of the radiater is hot but the bottom is cold as hell

u might have a bad thermostat just cuz its new it might still b defective
