how much trouble would it be to swap the 3.0 L V6 out of an 88 toyota pickup for say a 305ci small block chevy motor, im curious because im thinkin on purchasing this truck

Hi there, Not really a problem, had one in at work, since the chevy engines are not very complicated it is a simple swap, easy to get parts for them as well. Hope this helps

Hi there, still dont think this would be a problem as long as you think the chassis its strong enough to cope with the extra power, if rusty or week in some parts could bend it. If it is a manual trans it should be tough enough to handle the extra power as they are always built tough, it could pay to ask or take it to a tranny shop where they can tell you their thoughs

there are plenty of adapter kits out there. check out northwest off road. they have a large selection rangin from a chevy 4.3 to a ford 5.0 to a chevy 5.7. i looked into doin this to my '93 but ran out of money.

Big question is your fabrication skills or your checkbook.  Cooling and transmission are the hard ones to cover.  Swap in a turbo  350 tranny and a narrowed 10 bolt and you should be rolling for years.
