2002 highlander..how do i reactivate the key to open window feature?

My husband just bought me an 02 highlander with 30k miles...perfectly taken care of. The only two features I am having a hard time with are these;
1-I cant get the key to roll the window down when held to the left or right after unlocking as the manual says it should.
2-I dont understand where my 4wd is. It's automatically in it? Or should there be a button other than the etc snow button?...It says 4wd on the side along with limited, so how do I engage this feature?

Please help me understand these!! I love my toyota but need to know it entirely! :)
