my roomate last year bought an 02 A4 with 70k miles.  put 10k miles on it since and has had so many problems he rarely even drives the car anymore.  he said his coolant, temp, and check engine lights come on and go back off all the time.  i dont know if i would even buy one myself let alone one with that many miles.  probably better to stay away with that many miles unless you plan on spending a nice chunk of change on keeping it running correctly

My family has an audi... and the cars are hit and miss... a 2002 would be good but unless it had very good care 172k is a lot of mileage

Not sure if it's a petrol or diesel? if it's a diesel, it will still be fine at that mileage provided it has a service history to back it up, could
just be as simple as a faulty coolant level sensor.. get someone to check it out 1st.. if it's a petrol, i'd avoid it... :]

Yes it is with Audi's once you reach over 100,000 miles you began to have costly problems. Because by this time you have to start replacing things. I'm sorry but I think the millage is way to much and even though the car may be at a good deal you will occur more cost in repairs to were the deal sucks.

HELL NO!! My friend bought an Audi and then it started to give him so many problems. NEVER buy a used Audi requires too much maintanance and that requires $$$ (A LOT OF IT)

it all depends on how much your paying.  cars aren't made how they used to be, i personally wouldn't buy anything for with over 120,000.   with those type of miles, you can be expecting to be changing out a lot of parts, really soon.

European cars are great, but expensive to maintain. My mate bought a 1999 model and at 180000 Kilometres, not miles, it needed a major rebuild, $3000 Australian. This was aparently a factory thing to have done, but it was the car's 'major' service of its life.

The look really good and are cheaper than I expected but after all you've said... I dont know what t think about a used audi. I was sure audi was one of the problemless cars that sustain more than 100,000 in quite good condition. What to buy now?
