KA24DE-T with 7 psi+ stock internals, and cut springs are better.

I have only heard of one instance when a KA-T detonated and fucked everything up, and that guy was running on forged internal with 25psi. A stock KA24DE with 250k+ miles can stand up to 7psi. I know, I have done it and it's my work car.

^ Check compression first... millage has nothing to do with it. Plus, it'll run like hot garbage without a stand-alone ecm or a re-flash. In my line of experience with turbo cars; the first attempt blows up, the second attempt is more reliable, and the third attempt is what you actually wanted. Save yourself the hassle and pull, build, and tune... and don't cut the springs.

Compression was 164 across the boards. High mileage denotes wear.

"...Plus, it'll run like hot garbage without a stand-alone ecm or a re-flash..." Oh wow that's crazy I can't beleive I have never heard of that wowzers. douche.

"..Save your self the hassle..." and go jump of a cliff faggit.

And cutting the spring is fine if you know what your doing.

Also johnny boy, I didn't ask you anything so don't reply to my comment reply to the original topic.

how is there a right way to cut springs?

Either by a butterfly compression block. which cost money or the free way that I have done;

1. Take off springs.
2. Air grinder with HD disk, measure in .5's and cut. I usually do about 1.5 coils for a nice drop without much affecting shocks.
3. Compress and put back on.

There isn't one. Captain ghetto here just feels certain that he knows what he's doing.

When you cut them and they heat up, they have a tendency to get "bouncy" that's why most people don't like them, and most people go too short, that's why shocks get fucked up. There is a right way. I am not saying it's the best but you asked a question and I answer. Don't let this sour motherfucker above me fool you, he just has little dick syndrome.

"they have a tendency to get "bouncy" that's why most people don't like them, and most people go too short, that's why shocks get fucked up."

100% true. Question, you're on stock struts with "correctly" cut springs, how long until that strut blows out? Seeing as how it isn't designed for that reduced travel. And back to the original question, how on earth is a ka with stock internals and cut springs better than an sr with teins? Head gasket upgrade? Tune? I've had one sr and two ka-ts and I wish I never got rid of my sr.

"how long until that strut blows out?"
-Mine haven't yet. Going on 2 years and some change.

"how on earth is a ka with stock internals and cut springs better than an sr with teins?"
I said KA24DE-T. As in a turbo 2.4. making 215-230hp at the wheels. with room to go up.

When I said KA-T with cut springs, I meant I would rather have a KA-T with cut springs then a SR-T with teins. Springs or coilovers for that matter.

How do you like it? How's the tone? I am asking because there is a port shop here where I live that has a freshly pulled CA18DET for 500 bucks and I was thinking about getting it.

the teins ride great, i kinda fucked up tho cause i got the basics, and they dont have the strut mounts that let you change the camber, unless you make/buy ones that'll work, save the extra change and get some tein drifts or any teins that have the strut mounts, im happy with the  basics but you'll be happier with the teins with the strut mounts.

outta all the threads i read, i have heard alotta bad shit about megan, about sendin shit out withe the welds breakin BY MAIL, and ive seen pics of this shit, but i havent heard THAT MUCH bad sjit about thier coilovers tho.

imo, if your onna a budget, get the megans... if you can wait another 2 weeks, get the tein and slap a baller status sticker on your whip

Man that's crazy, I don't wanna' risk it. I am on a budget but time is not a factor. I would rather get the tein's or, in my dreams, ksport air bags. lol.

It's on a cherrypicker because I wannna get the bellhousing machined or figure out an adapter. But man let me tell you, it is bad, I'ma have to notch the frame a little bit but it will be totally worth every little thing.
