I want to say the 1990 model did. It was given as an option in the US. I don't know how popular it was but I do know someone who had an early NA Miata with an automatic.

Auto tranny in an MX-5 makes as much sense as putting a 6 speed manual on Dodge Caravan...LMAO!!

I have number 642 off the line in 1989 and it is an automatic it is pretty rare.

I have a 1989 1.6 manual, it had a G reg in the UK (1989) but when i imported her they gave it a 1990 plate!! , any help would be greatly appreciated, thank Andy

I have 1990 with tranny problems unfortunately, Automatic won't shift out of 1st gear and R doesn't work.
