Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Is there a right or wrong way to install the large magnet? I replaced it but the manual shifting still does not work.

Finally bit the bullet & removed the magnet, flipped it 180 degrees & glued back in. It works! So there must be a right & wrong way. Is there a way to figure this out other than trial & error?
