2000 gti mods. need some help and some advise

hey i have a year 2000 v-DUB GTI. love it to death its an awesome car. i bought an intake for it but dont have it in... to make a long story short me and my dad arnt "the best in mechanics." sooo we found out the hard wa the intake snakes down to the bottam of the car? is that normal or even safe for that matter? i dont want water getting sucked into my car! (its a vr6 i forgot to tell u guys). anyways its onyl an intake and a stock exuast. any cheap ways to get all the hp out of it?

cheap power and vr do not belong in the same sentence.

basic bolt ons will give you a decent increase on the butt-dyno, though.

chip, exhaust, etc.

and yeah, head to vortex.  but prepare for wolves.

wow, that is not safe at all. the intake should start in the front left of the bay and go around to the intake mani....you better have a good filter or you are going to hydro lock your engine. there are no cheap ways to make a VR fast. sorry. putting on an intake, header, exhaust, and a chip are the cheapest ways to add SOME hp....but they dont do much for a VR. just turbo it. trust me.
