no fire to coil only on start
i have no codes i have fire to coil on run but start i lose it i changed cam and crank sensor . car started took to pep boys due to code lite on for battery was replaced ,there, and code was for that ,i got it back unrunning told computer went ,i sent out and told pcm ok it acts like it wants to start 6 times then it sounds like it loses it timing . i found my extra key cut up under seatplastic removed and the screws broke on key cover i dont have a alarm and black key no chip can it be the swarter switch cranks fine i replaced belt ran great when i brought in also has 88.000 miles and never been worked on but i replaced timing belt then 10.000 miles later i had to do again do to water pump boy i learned a lesson need help bad i also changed asd relay and went through all wires been down 10 months do to no shop out here and dealer will no work on it without replacing computer due to me telling them what pep boys did please help larry also i dont have the ring around key switch for alarm2002 2.4 pt 88000. miles thanks if some one can help
first off you need a key with the chip in the key forget the battrey powered remote entry key fob plastic thing. if this car has an alarm system try locking both doors off and on a few times .without a chip key to match the code in the pcm[computer] it wont run ,it will crank im quite sure though ,and timing belt must be done step by step one tooth off will run poorly 2 tooth off may not start cuz computer senses this and wont wake the fire maker for spark
dear jimmy i do not have a chip key i do not have the imobizer on colume black box and ring around key switch car ran fine befor he mess with key he cut plastic off to find chip i told him no alarm in 2002 the belt is right iv done them many times amd a 1/2 tooth is what it is set at before tensoner is released i have fire on run ann fuel pump and all elect is good until i hit start replased asd cam crank will starter switch behind key do this i have been through all wiring thanks larry 2002 2.4 pt cruser
A 2002 PT Cruiser has a transponder, or chip key. All do. Somebody cut the plastic and car suddenly your car is a mess. He screwed up the transponder
if what you say is ok and no chip needed, get a push button [starter button] any 2 or 3 amp push button , make hot wire to button , A terminal and wire from button B terminal to starter solinoid on top of starter and connect it there to the thin wire comming from ingnition switch. with key on ,push button for crank, key on for fire to run.
dear sir in 2002 they had problems with the transponder and the 2002 didnt have it till the end of the year do to problems the dealer told me that thay found this on only2002 units not to be a smart$%^^ but im a retired gm dealer master machanic and new to fl. or i would have be able to get a ob2 unit and go through system . i cant even get a wiring diegram for ingnition system i bought 2 books and no dieagram i went to dealer 1and1/2 hours away and will not give nme copy do to im not a auth. chrysler repair center i went throw all wires on the coloum and i would find were the small black box would go and wiring none found .my caddy has chip and would not start i used meter and got2 ohoms went to radio and bought resitor and soidered it in the key reader 6 years ago and stillstarts and runs fine my pt didnt come with the little box and ring around key i bought car new and i had a proplem with key would come out when running 2 years ago so i took covers off and had no ring then so pep boy didnt do it he did tell me my timing belt was off 3 teeth i drove it there and didnt tell him i was a machanic and now a service manager retired from fl. k-mart he lied and i didnt want to fight with him do to the service manager was a woman and just though she new it all and i didnt want to go to jail and have car impounded over 400.00 i was charged larry ps i read in a service bullitin that the key cutoff was removed for 2002 do to prob;ems on a chrysler recall site
also dealer told me that gray keys are all chipped and black keys that have indentfor your fingers to turn do not have any chip do to thinking same thing some big black thick key have chips but he said very few also i dont want to mess-up a perfect car with a push button but good idea but there is 10 plus wires behindkey and if i put power to wrong one that the end of computer i have coil power and fuel pump runs on run but i lose all power on start but motor cranks can it be a bad starter switch that is the only part i have not changed do to it cranks car and has power to coil on run .im use to the older units were the switch was bolted to coloum and rod ran to it from key
dear mark i need help i have no one here in fl. to talk to when you jave a problem to talk it over with do to wifr just died and im 50 the machanics down here are tire changers i cam to manage k-mart at a very high pay and work as a teaching manager back when i started we put in all new equment a vgb cutts rotor on car and auto strut machine and new hunter alinement machine and i went to 500 stores and taught the guys how to use new tools and also all guys had to be ase and i prep them after work for test so they would pass to keep job im very smart and this is the first car every that im stumped and need some help anyone out there i will pay or call me anytime i have spinal cancer and had to retirer do to bending over to long is hell someone has to know if the switch behind the key unit with the 10 plus wires could cause this problem the dealer want the whole car will not flash computer for me see living in disney everyone is a rip off and i know do to being a service manager i never had to rip off people do to there is to much good work if your tire men look at each car please help pay any price if someone lives near ill pay trip if you have a snap on computer unit to dieagnose car i cant aford larry call 24/7 collect 407-957-4030 larry
