worn valve guides is quite a common problem and rot under the wheel arches where the seatbelt mounts are on the rear also chassis rot if it has had a hard life also be aware of tin worm in the bottom of the doors and at drainage points as theese are often overlooked when cleaning the vehicle

like most landys easly repaired and parts are abundunt so look for the obvious also the switch gear can cause headaches but again easly repaired hope this helps you out if you are thinking of buying one as they are very good workhorses and are so easy to work on and repair regards j.s.autos uk

We have one cylinder that is only getting about 25 PSI (others at 130) wet and dry. Does anyone know of how many valves per cylinder? Has anyone had this problem before? If so, what did you have to fix? It's the 1.5L engine. Thanks, Gary 5 answers

I'm looking at a 79 T-Bird. It's been sitting in a barn for a while, but it is very solid. Drove it a bit, and it runs through the gears fine. Until reverse. It feels like it grinds in reverse, and sometimes has trouble reversing uphill. Is it the tranny, or maybe just funky fluid or clogged filter? Has a small gasket leak. Maybe a clogged cat? Really want a LTD body T-Bird, but the problem with reverse is making me wary of this otherwise nice car. 2 answers
Car has <100k miles and has full tranny fluid.
