i have to give my 1997 cadillac sls gas to get it started, then i can smell gas, after it runs for a few minutes the smell goes away and the car runs great, what is going on?

Carburetor or valve seats on the head needs replaced. Is my guess.

Sounds like a leaking fuel injector. I assume you mean you have to step on the accelerator to get it started. HTH. -Jim
