About: 1996 Chevrolet Lumina
main bearing going out
1996 chevy lumina is making a pinging noise and chugging sound (especially when i am stop lights or something)all of a sudden.could it be a piston or something?

More than likely you have a misfire. I had a 96 Monte carlo that did the same thing. Replace the Fuel Injectors and Give it a tune up, should work. If not there might be damage to the cylinder wall in which case you might be SOL. Hope this helps
