I have a 97 Chevy Malibu an the car remote or the alarm system itself has been giving me problems. Somedays it will not crank due to the theft system light blinking & other days it wont unlock at all an I hae replaced the battery. My question is, is there a way to fix this problem with it costing an arm and leg?

This is not a factory unit. Clip the power to the security system, then forget-

under hood alarm button for hood is better disconected on most cuz they get sloppy and trigger false signals, or yeah clip that sucker no one looks when they go off anyway

if you dont have a aftermarkrt security system sounds like theft system in your ignition sitch bad, replaced lock cylinder and ignition keys, system will have to be programmed by leaving ignition on intill the theft light goes out on instrument cluster
