hard to shift gears on the column
pull shift cable off of shift lever on trans and move shift lever in car does it get easier if u know how
no it come out of park and want go no more with the cable off shift the trane by hand in to n or park and stard the car but the shifter still dont move the cable that far how do i go about removeing the cable the ease way
does the shifter lever on the trans move freely with it disconnected from the shift cable? disconnect from shifter in the car does the shifter move freely now? if so the cable is seizing if not the shifter is the problem if ur car has the shifter on the steering column i found this that may apply in ur case: When you get one of these with a complaint of a stiff, hard to move shift lever or difficulty getting into and out of park don't be too quick to condemn the shift cable. On the Lumina and many other GM cars the problem is located at the cable lever pivot point on the top of the steering column. Drop the column down and pop off the cable end and move it by hand. Don't be surprised when it moves easily. There will be a corrosion issue between the aluminum lever and the steel pivot bolt. Take out the pivot bolt, clean the shoulder area, and do what GM should have done when they built the car....apply some never-seize to the bolt and re-install.
