Sheesh, that answer wasnt helpful. Reading the reviews from owners indicates few have higher mileage at the time of their report. Common issues seem to all be expensive to repair, especially if you do not intend to do-it-yourself. For example, compressor for air suspension is $1200 even from 3rd party, electronics have some reported weaknesses, and the biggest cause for me to pause in the upgrade from my A8 is the FSI engine. Read about carbon build up on the intakes that results from no fuel being sprayed over the valves and you have to think twice about a used S8 with the V10. The job is likely to cost you $2000-3000 to have them cleaned. Also, the newer S8 uses a timing chain and not a belt. Maybe it's more reliable, but if it breaks the whole engine has to come out of the car. The older engines could have the bumper removed and done in a few hours... As a result, make sure you can afford to operate the car, not just purchase it.

Hi, Audi S8 are reliable. I had the A8 which cost like you know what to replace the belt and almost lost the engine due to a stuck hydro tensioner. I have now own the 07 S8 going on 7 yrs and have only few majors, axle/strut on pass side throttle body gasket. I had normal wear and tear items. I say S8 RELIABLE

The V-10 in the Audi S8 is very reliable it is way more reliable than the Audi 4.2 L engine it has it is an over engineered engine and it will outlast most other Audis and this is a fact - I don’t want to jinx myself I’m an ASE certified mechanic with 30 years in the field and I own one yet to have an issue . - and I drive my car hard very hard and it is modified , The only problem is with these cars is carbon buildup because of the fuel stratified injection but that job is about eight hours if you do it yourself and it’s not very difficult you can find online how to do it step-by-step or you can take it to a local garage and for probably about $1500- $1800 they should be able to do it .

I thought they were reliable until mine lunched one of its roller rockers and chewed up the camshafts at 86k miles. Engine out repair....

Smart Audi drivers dump, er "sell" their cars long before they have high miles.

I own a 2008 S8, the only thing i have had to replace is the window regulator, easiest one I've ever changed. It has just over 100,000 miles. Recommend this car.
