I am pretty sure the Ford Crown Vic's still used a carburetor in 1985. Running lean can cause heating problems, albeit not severe. Does it run well otherwise..and overheat at highway speeds or only in traffic? It's a sort of longshot, but there is an adjustment screw on carb to adjust fuel/air mix. And idles for a ? what does that mean

My 1987 Ford Crown Victoria has a 302 with Fuel Injection. It over heats some times after I shut it off. It then dumps the coolant through the over flow canister. The hoses, water pump, and 190 degree thermostat have been replaced, car did not over heat before this. Yes, I have checked to see if thermostat was installed properly. Before I move forward and pay for answer, can mechanic answer question on a 1987 Crown Victoria, Ive run into issue with all shops saying they have no manuals or experince on vehicle this old. I do have original Ford repair manulas, so far no answer for issue. Does no overheat at highway speeds, or running around neighborhood. Just if stopped and or when car shut off
