no, but what will effect the transmission and the cluster is the ECU (cars computer) it is possible that both problems are isolated (chevy vans have a lot of problems)

I have 2000 Express 1500, Is "service engine soon" supposed to be on when key is on position before start? Or it only comes on when there is problem? It failed the smog because of 2 codes detected (P0751 & P1870), but "service engine soon" light has never come on at all. Would it be caused by ECM? Thanks in advance.

Jeff, Thanks for your reply. I had a new cluster put in the van but I still have the same problem with the speedometer. It shows 80mph when I'm going 20. Any suggestions. Rich
