my brake lights stay on at all times how do I make them go off? Tired of explaining it to the police.

For some reason the other day my brakes lights stayed on even after I had removed my foot from the pedal. Now as soon as I turn my truck on they come on and stay on. What can I do.

take the two wires off of the switch at the brake petal and see if they go off

You might also check the bulb in the third brake light. Mine was blown. Changed the bulb, lights off and functioning as they should.
