Fuel Range indicators

When the fuel range indicator shows range low...how many miles do you have. Before the indicator stated this it said 48 miles. Is this dependable.

When fuel level is less than 14% capacity.

well if you are on the gas non stop then that 48mile range goes away

like rich said, it has to do with capacity
