Why won't GM sell Pontiac? Why can't we save an American company?
I don't understand why suits in Washington can tell manufacturers how to run their business when they can't even do their jobs properly.

Umm mate, gm was going bankrupt due to a loss of the majority market share and excessive costs... They HAD to downsize, Washington had nothing to do with it. Cutting a brand composed primarily of re-branded cars was the obvious choice.
