Value of a 1982 240

My daughters boyfriend is looking at a car to use for college
transportation this year. He is looking at a 1982 240, one
owner, garage kept, perfect condition, 30000 miles. They are
asking $3000 for it. Is it worth that much? Are they safe cars?
Is upkeep expensive? Thanks

they are very safe, even safer than some new cars with air bags since they have real crumple zones etc. they are pretty cheep to maintain, i have owned 7 240s and they will never die, with that low mileage $3k is about right. any other questions feel free to msg me I am a certified volvo mechanic. hope that helped
thats awful low miles,cis fuel injection hates sitting there,if it runs perfect on a cold morning then all is well,as far as startup and warmup,thats where most problems show,is it a turbo? thats premium price,but not for those miles!
