CarGurus' 1982 Volkswagen Rabbit Review
hi my name is josh i own an 82 vw rabbit. there were a coupple of things wrong with yalls article, first the engine was mostly a 1.8 california emissions car wich allowed for 81 horsepower, the 1.7 were a shorter stroke engine that went in to the 4 door and pickup fariants because of its torque, the pickup also had a cam shaft that pushed that number up further, the 1.6 diesel that year also was introduced with an optional turbo which it became famed for because it put the power up to 65 hp and put the fuel milage up to 45 mpg. the rack and pinion steering was avalible in a powered version by ATE the same people who made the calipers on the 4 door custom L vented rotor option that option is harder to find in the earlier years and was not avalible before 81 the entire series of rabbits have never been equiped with indipendent rear suspension even the new 2.5l rabbits dont have it there known for that in the autocross circuits for that hence the term "three wheeled bunny" since the car is forced into hard turns kicking the unloaded wheel up, other than thoes the car is solid, ive had mine for 5 years it was my first car and i love it. if you have any questions or comments please e-mail me at gilian3v2@hotmail.com - josh
