Hello, If you are going to be working on an older Beetle, there are many great books that can help make it a lot easier. Here is an example of one: http://www.amazon.com/VW-Beetle-Transporter-Restoration-Manual/dp/1859606156 Before starting to do any work, I would purchase and review one of these books in detail, then use it as a guide for all your work. Best of luck! CarGrrl

what a long winded scenic route answer that basically translates to- I won't help if you don't pay, or - I don't have the slightest idea. remove all electrical connections , the accelerator cable , the heater control cables, and gas line from the motor. undo the 4 bolts connecting motor 2 trans.withmotor on jack able to roll to the rear of car ,pull motor away from trans, once separated, pull top bolts, put nut on bolts, and keep near, drop jack a few inches this will bring trans down from its mount and lowers motor allowing it to slide off of the shaft.now remove bottom bolts and starter bolt, slide motor off the shaft and put motor bolts back in correct holes, then add nuts. then unhook linkage from front trans. undo axels at wheel side mountings.undo forward mount.and whaaa-laaaa. hope helps some peeps.
