What should I pay

Looking at a 1952 splitwindow vw. in running condition person is asking 4k. What is value on this car

Impossible to say without a detailed inspection of the car. A split window that early will be one of the most valuable classic Beetles, so expect to pay more than you would for a '60s bug.

if it really is a 1952 split, and it is not rusted competely, then 4 grand is not a bad price. they are very hard to come by. if it is rusty as hell, or you are expecting to do a restoration and put it back stock, expect to pay big $$$ to have it done correctly.
