Have you ever had your tranny serviced or replaced?? What kind of mileage do you have on it? This might be a sign of a bad torque converter......then again, could be something as simple as your brakes sticking. Do you wheels get hot??

The truck has 236k on it but new rebuilt engine only has 57k and im not really sure the truck was bought this way any estimates on the pricing for fixing each of those options?

New tranny, $1500-2000 for a proper rebuilt. Brakes, calipers are about $50 a pop, brake cylinders, about $30/pop

I don't believe it's the brakes because the car moves in reverse

You gotta drop the tranny to get at the torque converter. THey are fairly cheap but a pain in the ass to get too. Is your XJ modified at all?? Big tires, lift....anything???

Hmmm, I think with 236,000miles/380,000Km....might be time for a new tranny my freind!!!!

I believe there is a new transmission in already as the old one was left in the trunk when i bought the truck just incase i wanted to rebuild it

You sure it was a new one and not just a "junkyard" new??

That is a true statement I'll be having a mechanic look at this this week I'm hoping the transmission isn't that bad as the truck runs and can be driven
