Dodge, 318 motor, using an oil pan and oil pickup from a full size truck, exhaust manifolds from the 318 and standard "y" exhaust pipe. Automatic trans. I think you can use part if not all of the existing motor mounts. Seen it, drove it but I did not do the work.

360 and 318 are the same block just different bore and stroke if i remember right if your looking for more power you could make the 360 into a 408 stroker if you really wanted to go wild but the 360 should fit

I have the 79 2wheel drive with the 440. I also have an 84 4x4 with the 2.0. I wanted to put my 2.6 from my 79 in it but after 2 months of searching for a 4x4 oil pan for the 2.6 I gave up and built another 2.0 The front differential makes it very hard to engine swap. If you converted to solid front axle it would make engine swapping possible.

I have the stock rear end in my '79 with a 440 and 727 trans. Its 391 gear ratio and works very well just wish it was posi! At 55 mph its about 2800 rpm

a 302 is a cool swap, it fits in pretty easy. an engine is an engine, but if you want it to look factory get a 318 or 360 out a similar model 150 and stick badges on it

How did you fit the 440 and a 727 bell housing in DI you change the firewall and you really used a stock D50 rear with 3.91 rear end

No modification to fire wall. Took a small section out of trans tunnel in floor. And yes! Stock rear end. They hold up great with an automatic trans. Manual may be different. Just wish it was a posi! Check out youtube "Big Block D50. There are a couple videos of the truck.

I have personally installed a 318/904 combo in a 1983 D-50. Currently finishing a 408/904 install in a 1986 model.
