Mercedes-Benz C280 Forum:When I turn the steering wheel any direction it makes a sound. It sounds like something in the column needs to be "oiled". What can this be?

not sure take to your mech.could be a number of things.

Could be the power steering pump is packing it in, and squealing under load.  If it's inside the vehicle, it might be that plastic is rubbing when the steering wheel is turned.  Have a mechanic check it out.

Have the same thing 2000 C280 with 70,000 miles. Does it only when cold.

if you go the the dealer they will charge you for a 50 $ evaulation. But the feeling that the column is actually jut the 4matic fluid just get a 4matic fluid changes. in simple terms the oil in the speicial diferentials my mercades is worn
