I recently learned that the oil plug on my 2002 V70XC hex head is stripped.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When a techncian tried to remove it he said "it was fused to the Pan and that I would need a new pan".  If I ordered my own pan and seals--is this easy to install?  are there any good directions?

Take this to another tech. This is a common problem on vehicles and most times you can remove the plug without removing the whole pan. There are numerous options for a skilled guy including welding a nut to the head of the plug to put a wrench on it, etc.
