i have the S-40 Turbo. I started getting transmission problem at less than 85000 miles. When transmission fluid was added , the car ran , then I noticed liquid in my driveway.
I only drove my car back and forth to the nearest subway parking lot in my neighborhood, but after a noticeable fluid leakage situation, I noticed the slippage again. I have heard of several other Volvo S40 owners in my area , who have the same situation. My first car was a Volvo 240 Gl and it ran great, I kept it well maintained. The only problem I had with my 240 Gl was the Air Flow Meter going bad every three years. My brother has a 1983 240 DL and it runs great along with his 940 wagon.
