i have the S-40 Turbo. I started getting transmission problem at less than 85000 miles. When transmission fluid was added , the car ran , then I noticed liquid in my driveway.
I only drove my car back and forth to the nearest subway parking lot in my neighborhood, but after a noticeable fluid leakage situation, I noticed the slippage again. I have heard of several other Volvo S40 owners in my area , who have the same situation. My first car was a Volvo 240 Gl and it ran great, I kept it well maintained. The only problem I had with my 240 Gl was the Air Flow Meter going bad every three years. My brother has a 1983 240 DL and it runs great along with his 940 wagon. I am disgusted with this new crop of Volvos. They are shit! please e mail me a reply @ ... Duane.Morton@opm.gov , and thank you.
have to agree, Volvo isn't the Volvo it once was, thank the Ford Corporation for that one. Once the safest car in the world, and respected, now over priced ordinary machines. I once had the 850 R, loved it, but didn't keep it long. as far as your leak, top off ALL the fluids, before parking it overnight, place a mat or (if you can fit) bucket under the trans.. so in the morning you have an idea of the volume of fluid you are losing per day., determine it is indeed trans.., and if it is a good amount, you should be able to see the source, (remove the splash guard cover).DO NOT, as in NOT use shit-stop, Lucas, or any other additive... let us know the amount lost...thanks
