need to replace oil pan on my 1996 vw golf is it hard to do

It's kinda hard, because it's so dark and dirty there. Make sure you have good light and lots of rags. It's doable. I suggest going to Youtube and type in "replace oil pan Golf or Jetta". You will eventually find a video of somebody doing the actual job.
