Check battery connections. Make sure all are tight and clean. Also check the negative cable where it attaches to the frame and motor. This will not help with the egr code but should help get it to cranking over and starting.

This was a problem with my 2007. We think we have it fixed. It turned out there was moisture under the fuse box, and corrosion on many wires coming from it. It took them 6 months, four visits, one include a battery change, and two times sending a tow truck...finally they have it fixed they believe. Still waiting on it and have a loaner.
