It is a 1.3L, two-rotor engine with 654 cc per rotor for a total displacement of 1308 ccs.

1308 cc's, they make a 2600cc rotary which is a 4 rotor race engine that is very rare and expensive

Yeah those Mazda rotary race engines make crazy horsepower. I work for Mazda and there is a sick rotary engine in the Mazda Furai concept car. It runs on 100% Ethanol and makes over 450HP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats sick numbers comming from a non-turbo Renesis rotary. We tested it on the track and the camera car( Porche GT3 could not keep up with the working prototype, Mazda Furai.

A alcohol injected engine versus a gas powered engine...  That's a little unfair... You alcohol inject that Porsche and it would be a  bit more fair. I mean Ethanol is what ~130 octane.  Plus prototype=lighter weight/fewer restrictions.

Granted that would still be a fun thing to see.  Those Rotary's have incredible top end and are rediculusly light weight.  It would be an interesting match up if all things were made equal.

the four rotor motor sopken of is VERY expensive and you need to have a race license to buy one, and you may have to order it from MAZDA, not your local dealership.

it is 1.3L

it can be defined as a two stroke engine, because it burns oil for lubrication, but it goes through all 4 cycles of an internal combustion engine.  some also argue that Mazda is incorrectly calculating the size of the rotaries , therefore those persons classify them as twice their displacement.  Also the amount of fuel a 13B   (1.3L rotary engine)  is comparable to that of a 2.6L  piston engine, another arguement that they are incorrectly calculated for displacement.

the 4 rotor some of you are talking about is the 26B.. it is not a production motor, not from Mazda anyways, I could give you the website to a company down under that makes a 4 rotor. Two different 4 rotors to be exact, one is based on the 13B (in most newer Rx-7's) but  they also make a 24A which is made from the 12A series of motors from the First generation of Mazda Rx-7's

Mazda did make a 20B. it was a 3 rotor based off the 13B engine. it was put into a limited number of Mazda Cosmo's in the years 1990 till 1995 (?)  many rotary enthusiasts have one removed they rebuild them and put them into a Rx-7 to up its power...

Also has no torque spinning up to 9000 rpm no matter how high the octane of the fuel, it'll still have no torque, and have high rpm torque = useless for drag racing.

1.3 without a doubt

The 4 rotor motor mentioned is possible but more suprising tecnically its also possible to fit an unlimited amount of rotors but obviously you'd need the room and a huge petrol tank.
