trouble shooting 1992 dodge ram 50 fuel pump

How do I trouble shoot the fuel pump.  It is definitely not working, however I don't know if it's not getting power to it or if it has power and still does'nt work

Get a multimeter and test the wires at the pump, watch the meter as you turn on the ignition

I found a fraid wire above the fuel tank towards the rear so check the wires going to it before you drop the tank to change the pump. I learned the hard way
